I would use it but I have a pretty bad history with it...and Xat is easy-to-use, as well as pretty fast.

I'm not sure- I've heard bad reports of websites with chat boxes.

Just needs to be moderated correctly-I've seen sites pull it off.

True, and so far; it seems, based on the members- we won't have much problems with that anyways.

Sites/forums with chat boxes usually die because they talk about things in chat rather than posting a message on the forum/site.(ive seen it happen before on some forums ive been to)

Couldn't have said it any better. This is probably one of the main reasons PK died, because some whiz decided that linking a noble sprite-site's chatbox to two other failing ones was going to have a good output -_-

But I am still considering it-I may not have a chat box, if things on the site seem fast enough, than there is no reason for one.

This.
I rarely use the chatboxes even when they're available. Anything said in the cb can be said on the site and help activity, or it's useless spam. And we can do that on any one of the many failing sites.

No listen, reborn was right, members will get lazy, they'll stop posting on the forum and will get used to the chatbox, and then when you try to remove it, it still won't bring the forum activity back.

After you said all this I agree we won't need one. I know what we need know... A trash area for topics that have been washed up or gone for maybe a month or two

You're probably right about that. It would help keep the forum less cluttered, but old threads would still be available to view for reference.
