Has anyone here 'picked up' a musical instrument before? (Includes singing)
Share your experiences- have you been in a band? how long have you played- do you want to learn (implying you don't already know, and just what to get that post count up xP)

I have recently taken up guitar- been playing for a good month or two now. I'm working on my 3rd song now; I might start uploading some links here on this topic, so stay tuned, I'd like any feedback possible from my horrid recordings (my mic is pretty bad on this comp)
I also started to learn piano. I play on and off, but I would like to possibly get a teacher sometime soon. So far I can only play short excerpts of songs off youtube. (some of whch being some mozart, narutos' sadness and sorrow (It's actually quite beautiful piece despite being written for an anime), the godfather theme song (I am Italian after all xP), some parts in Titanic,(-_-) some beatles music, and Some fray, oh and I was learning Clock by Coldplay.)

Back in grade school I used to play the snares (bleh too much money for drums)

Well my classmates said I can sing and I'm in the freshman Chorus. I remember that I sing to this girl once last year. I had a clarinet but I quit after my first year playing it.

Always wanted to play the drums, but I never had enough money to buy my own set, let alone the time to learn.(I'd probably just try to play the beats to a few of my favorite anime for a week or so and then get bored and leave it to attract dust in the corner xD)

Used to play clarinet for a few years, quit awhile back though and have no talent whatsoever remaining. I also play a bit of piano and like 2 or 3 songs on guitar.

I play some guitar from which I learned from a teacher at school. He tought me the basics, and I just keep continuing by internet. I impress some people, although my voice makes their ears bleed.

This is almost exactly what happened with my electric drumset XD except I didn't even learn how to play anything

electric drumset

Please don't tell me that :O They;re so expensive- I hate to see an instrument go to waste. Was it a Yamaha?

I hear you man, but I've been improving my voice so I can record my newest song, 'Autumn' (still debating title) with vocals, officially (semi-officially...maybe more legitly the word I'm looking for xD)

play a bit of piano

Can you play a full song?

I am envious -_-

play the drums

Although I wouldn't exactly reccomend this(since the brand is usually a hit or miss) there is a fairly cheap acoustic set for only about 189 out there. You should check it out- I wouldn't reccomend it (Contradiction...ftw?)since you get what you pay for (at least in the instrument world) Nonetheless, 189 is not too low of a price to be complete crap quality. And I would imagine it would be a cool way to get started on things. Drumming is really fun, I always mess around with my friend's set.

I didn't even knew I could until like 8th grade. I'm pretty sure you would be better than me since I barely sing anymore.

Well it was a bday present (I wasn't gonna pay for that thing XD) and yeah, it was.

Kinda. like I know how to play Pirates of the Caribbean, Axel F, Most of Indiana Jones, stuff like that. I can read music for piano, but I'm not all that great at it, so most of the songs I know I learned by experimentation or by having the sheet music and just working it out a bit at a time.

Ahh, I'm the exact opposite with my guitar. I remember eveyrhting by experimentation with sounds- (fancy term for not knowing ow to read music -_-)

You should- it's really fun. Specially if your friends also play music- you guys can hang and record or just chill, playing music.
